YORKSHIRE trainer Phil Kirby has his relatively small string in excellent form at present and his flag-bearer Andorn can win again in the Racinguk.com Handicap at Nottingham.

Andorn has done wonders for Kirby’s profile and won five of his last six races on the Flat last season and subsequently took advantage of a low mark over hurdles recently which should have blown away the cobwebs.

His winning spree began in a Redcar seller last June before he followed up at Beverley in a handicap off a mark of 54.

Second in an amateur riders’ race he then won off 55 back at Redcar, defied a 5lb higher mark at Catterick and then, despite going up to a mark of 64, he won back at Redcar again.

The handicapper could not keep up and has slapped another 6lb on his back which will make life tougher still but the hurdles win the other day showed he is still in very good form.

He competed in Group and Listed races when trained in Germany and could be on the way to returning to something like that sort of form.
