MIDDLESBROUGH teenager Gary Liddle has completed his free transfer to Hartlepool United.
The midfielder, part of Boro's FA Youth Cup winning side of 2004, has signed a two-year deal at Victoria Park.
Pools' boss Danny Wilson is also keen on Jason Kennedy and, after signing Willie Boland last week, is still seeking fresh faces for his squad.
"I would like to bring as many players as I can in,'' he said, after Hartlepool made it four games without a win this season. "We've got two in and I think the competition within the squad has to be fiercer.
"I think we are a quiet team, we've a great bunch of lads, but on the field they are quiet. We need talkers.''
Liddle leaves the Riverside without making a first-team appearance and Wilson said: "Gary is hungry to succeed and this is a good opportunity to come here.
"He's a determined player, who can be physical, but he's got a good feel for the ball as well.
"The nice thing is that he can play in a number of positions for us.
"It's important to try and foster good relations with the clubs around us and I hope we can help them out by hopefully bringing some of their players in for experience.
"That's something to see about in the future. Gary has signed a permanent contract here and Middlesbrough, to be fair, have been very good about it because they want the boy to do well and go on and have a good career in the game.
"They have looked after him and developed him really well.''
And Liddle signed for Pools with glowing reference from his old club.
"We would like to wish Gary all the best," said Academy manager Dave Parnaby. "He's a thoroughly good professional and a credit to himself and his family.
"He was a member of the FA Youth Cup-winning squad in 2004 but then missed a year out of the game with back problem and he's shown great courage, determination and attitude.
"He deserves all the success which we sincerely hope comes his way."
