ROBIN DICKIN will no doubt be driven to distraction by Restless Harry’s Cleeve Hurdle raid on Saturday, but Kathleens Pride can at least keep the wagon ticking along at Warwick.

The 11-year-old gelding has had no end of problems over the years, but his trainer has played an admirable waiting game and now has him back on song.

Kathleens Pride has won his last two starts over hurdles pretty comfortably, rising from a mark of 94 to 109 in the process.

He is, however, 5lb better off over fences, over which he won way back in 2007 on his final chase start before injury intervened.

With soft ground seemingly a given, Kathleens Pride must make a bold bid in the Molson Coors Customers Handicap Chase now he is back in the groove.

There should also be no stopping Kerada in the EBF/TBA Mares’ Novices’ Chase at Ffos Las.

Nicky Henderson’s seven-yearold was certainly no slouch over hurdles, winning three on the bounce last term and rated as highly as 127, but was always likely to come into her own over fences.

And so it has hitherto shown, with Kerada having made a pretty seamless chasing debut earlier this month at Newbury.

She was hardly even tested that day so it is perhaps understandable to see her turned out again so quickly.

Joe Le Taxi looks booked for another huge run when he checks in at Southwell.

Mark Johnston’s three-year-old will not be available at princely odds, but simply cannot be overlooked in the southwell-racecourse.co.uk Handicap.

The scopey son of Johannesburg returns to the track with a 6lb penalty, but that is highly unlikely to stifle further progress.

After all, he showed bags of toe on slow ground at Wolverhampton last week to readily account for Torteval by a yawning five lengths.

This looks an even weaker contest than that six-furlong handicap at Dunstall Park and he has the constitution to seriously make hay for the next few months.

Keep a close watch, too, on Hi Spec, who runs in the Bistro Prices From £42 Handicap at Kempton.

Trained by Mandy Rowland, the eight-year-old mare made a blinding return from a long break at Wolverhampton.

The daughter of Spectrum plugged on valiantly to take second behind a race-fit, and wellhandicapped, rival.

Hi Spec is just 2lb higher than her last winning mark, over a mile at this course last February, and ought to be a much wiser animal following that latest run.

Diriculous should also step back up to the plate in the kempton.

co.uk Handicap.

The Robert Mills-trained seven-year-old was impressive when winning at Wolverhampton this month and must have a chance off just a 2lb higher mark.

The all-weather specialist knows the Sunbury terrain, having twice won here in the past.

* Gordon Elliott reports Beautiful Sound unlikely to take his chance in the rearranged Connolly’s Red Mills Thyestes Chase at Gowran Park tomorrow.

The lightly-raced nine-year-old has won two of his three starts this winter and the County Meath trainer is thinking of saving the Gigginstown House Studowned gelding for a spring campaign.

“I’ll have to talk it over with owners, but at the moment I think we might give it a miss,” Elliott said.

“He’s a big, lean horse and we’ll freshen him up for another couple of weeks. He could be a horse for the staying handicap chases later in the year.”
