GUY Wilks has finished in fourth place on the Monte Carlo Rally.
The Peugeot driver, from Darlington, was debuting for his new team in what is the 100th running of the event.
Wilks had a chance of snatching third as the first round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) came to a climax, but the fates conspired against him and he had to settle for fourth.
Not that that was a disappointment, far from it, considering this was the first time he had got behind the wheel of the 207 S2000 in anger.
Speaking as he crossed the line he said: "I am quite happy with that. We didnt make any really big mistakes.
"OK, tonight, once we went too safe on tyres and then we had a problem with the set-up. But we had no real problems during the whole rally, and, first time in the car, I cant be too disappointed."
Overall Rallye Monte-Carlo results (after SS13) 1 Bouffier (Peugeot) 3h 32m 55.6secs; 2 Loix (Skoda) +32.5; 3 Sarrazin (Peugeot) +51.9; 4 Wilks (Peugeot UK) +1:19.7; 5 Delecour (Peugeot) +1.22.4; 6 Hanninen (Skoda) +1:29.3; 7 P Solberg (Peugeot) +3:45.9; 8 Vouilloz (Peugeot) +4:47.8
