Leeds United 1 Arsenal 3
ARSENAL duo Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas targeted FA Cup glory after their third-round replay 3-1 win at Leeds United.
Nasri’s early goal set Arsenal on their way to victory completed by Bacary Sagna and substitute Robin van Persie, despite Bradley Johnson’s blockbuster for Leeds.
The France international said: “We wanted to start really strongly. We scored after five minutes and tried to play our game even though the pitch was a little difficult.
“We want to win every competition and this cup is really important to us.”
The Gunners remain in contention for success in four different competitions this season and club captain Fabregas echoed his midfield partner’s sentiments.
“We want to go all the way in every competition,” he added. We didn’t know much about (Leeds) but they played very well at the Emirates.
“But tonight we were much superior to them. They were dangerous for a spell after they scored but Arsenal played fantastic football.”
Johnson said: “We are disappointed but we gave them a good run for their money again and we’ll take a lot of positives from it.”
On his goal – lashed into the top corner from 25 yards – he added: ‘‘I’ve not scored many like that but I’ve scored from outside the box before and I’ve been told if I get the opportunity, shoot because they know I can do that – I do it every day in training.
“But we lost the game so it doesn’t count for anything.”
