BIRMINGHAM have agreed a deal to sign Tottenham winger David Bentley on loan for the rest of the season and have also had an offer accepted for Rangers striker Kenny Miller.
Bentley is to undergo a medical this weekend before completing a temporary move to St Andrew’s. The former Blackburn player has slipped down the pecking order at White Hart Lane and is desperate to resurrect his career.
Blues, meanwhile, are set to pay an initial fee of £600,000 for Miller, who is out of contract in the summer.
Spurs splashed out £15m to sign Bentley in the summer of 2008 but he has found his firstteam opportunities increasingly limited.
Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp said: ‘‘Bentley is real talent. He will go on loan because he wants to play. He is frustrated at the moment.’’ ■ Norwich boss Paul Lambert has refused to be drawn on Burnley‘s approach to become their new manager.
The Canaries have denied their Championship rivals permission to speak to the 41- year-old Scot, who has steered the club into third place following their League One title success last season.
City insisted ‘‘under no circumstances would the club wish to grant permission’’ and they would ‘‘fight tooth and nail to retain the services of Paul Lambert.”
