NEWCASTLE UNITED defender Mike Williamson has denied a Football Association charge of violent conduct.
Williamson faces a three match ban if he is found guilty of the charge for the way he clashed in to Bolton striker Johan Elmander during Saturday's 5-1 defeat at the Reebok Stadium.
A regulatory commission will hear the case on Wednesday when the 27-year-old centre-back will be hoping his decision to deny the claims does not result in a heavier suspension.
An FA statement said: "Newcastle United defender Mike Williamson has denied a charge of violent conduct. The charge relates to an incident involving Johan Elmander in his side's fixture with Bolton on November 20."
