THE curtain comes down on racing action at Croft Circuit, near Darlington this weekend when the British Automobile Racing Club hosts a 17-race programme, including a number of leading championships.

Headlining the action is the prestigious Formula Palmer Audi Championship which will see drivers contest three rounds at the penultimate round of the single-seater series, currently headed by Frenchman Maxime Jousse.

Hot on his heels is Yorkshireman Nigel Moore from Wetherby who will be hoping for a good showing at his local track.

The motorcycle-engined Legends always provide close racing and with two heats and a final each day comprising rounds 13 and 14 of the 16 round series, there is bound to be plenty of drama.

Three-times British Legends Champion John 'Jon' Higgins arrives as series leader, but can expect stiff opposition from former rallycross aces Ben Power and Jess Gwynne, who both have good memories of the Yorkshire track from their time on the shale.

Also catered for with a race both days are the Lancaster Insurance MG Owners Club, Caterham Academy and MaX 5 Championships.

On Sunday, there is a chance to see two races in the MSA 250cc Kart Championship over ten laps.

Saturday kicks off with practice at 9.30am with the first of seven races at 1.45pm. Sunday's action starts at 12.20pm and contains the remaining ten races. Admission is £12 each day with accompanied children aged 15 and under admitted free. There is free parking and free paddock access.
