NEWCASTLE will begin their preparations for next season’s Premier League return with pre-season trips to Carlisle United and Norwich City.
Chris Hughton’s squad will return from their summer break to begin pre-season training on Thursday, July 8.
Like last summer, they will then travel to Carton House, near Dublin, to spend a week at an intensive training camp.
Their first pre-season outing will be at Carlisle on Saturday, July 17 (ko 3pm) and they will take on Norwich at Carrow Road seven days later on Saturday, July 24 (ko 3pm).
Hughton said: “Like us, Norwich have enjoyed a tremendous season and we’ll both be looking forward to the new campaign with much relish and anticipation.
I’m sure it’ll be a good game of football and a terrific preseason work out for both sets of players.”
Further fixtures will be announced in due course, with sources in Scotland claiming Newcastle are in talks about a possible appearance at Rangers’ Ibrox Park.
