Darlington Building Society NYSD Premier League Division One: Blackhall completed a comprehensive weekend double to strengthen their grip at the top of the table.

After defeating Yarm with ease on Saturday they had more than 200 runs to spare in yesterday's fixture with Normanby Hall who were all out for just 55 as Farouk Iqbal took seven wickets for only 19 runs and Richie Watts weighed in with 3-19.

When they batted first, Blackhall posted 285 for four declared. Andrew Booth struck 22 boundaries in an unbeaten 133 and Paul Moss had 13 fours out of 100.

Thornaby are second and they had nine wickets in hand of Guisborough who were reduced to 104 by the bowling of Rashid with 5-30 and Toulson, whose three wickets haul cost him a mere 13 runs.

Malcolm Muldowney (44), Ian MacDonald (31 not out) and Umer Rashid (32 not out) then completed a simple task.

Yarm remain near the bottom after losing to Stokesley for whom captain Ian West returned 4-26. The target of 146 was achieved for the loss of just three wickets as David Weighell and Davies both passed the 60 mark.

Bedale hit 252 for five at home to Darlington RA who were 154-3 at stumps. Peter Eckels was in good form with 52.

Keith Martin (6-49) and Martin Cull (4-38) reduced Barnard Castle to 88 and Billingham Synthonia won with eight wickets left as Denis Wing finished unbeaten on 55.

Darlington drew at Middlesbrough. John Meredith (53) top scored in Boro's total of 223 and Darlington were 152 for five mainly as a result of the efforts of Keith Barker with 44 and John Symonds (45).

On Saturday Blackhall enjoyed a nine-wickets romp against Yarm. Despite 56 by Weeks, Yarm were bowled out for just 96 as Shoaib Akhtar claimed eight wickets for just 28 runs in 16.3 overs.

John Darby (50 not out) and David Lamb (32 not out) then hurried the Colliers to victory.

There were two century makers for Guisborough who drew with Bedale. Richard Dove (100 not out) and Rob Hornbrook, with an unbeaten 123 put on 253 for the unbroken second-wicket partnership.

Chris Coady (88) and Ross Elsworth (43) added 93 in a fourth-wicket stand as Bedale replied with 215 for seven.

Keith Barker top-scored with 69 in Darlington's total of 170 which proved sufficient when Stokesley were reduced to 153 all out, but Darlington RA lost by 140 runs at Seaton Carew.

Morgan hit an undefeated 103 leading Seaton to almost 300 for the loss of just four wickets before RA were restricted to 155 which included 49 apiece by Peter Eckels and Peter Cartwright.

Barnard Castle had eight wickets in hand at Normanby Hall when David Stanwix took five wickets and opened with 42. His brother Michael (51 not out) and Andrew Toulson (37 not out) figured in an unbroken partnership for the third wicket.

Ian MacDonald (61) led Thornaby for 203 for four but the outcome of their fixture at Wolviston was delicately poised at stumps with the home side on 179 for seven.
