Durham Senior League: Burnmoor narrowed the gap between themselves and leaders South Shields to six points. While they convincingly beat Horden, South Shields were held to a draw.
The Horden wickets soon began to tumble at Burnmoor with only Adrian Hedley (48) standing firm. The ever-reliable Ian Conn clean-bowled all of his five wickets for just 24 runs. Alex Ludlow and Gary Brown claimed two wickets each and with only three Horden batsmen reaching double figures they were dismissed for 117.
The reply was uncomplicated. Chris Ellison (57 not out) and Barry Dews (52 not out) needed just 17.4 overs and the ten-wicket win was completed in 69 minutes.
South Shields only just failed against Marsden. Mike Fishwick (73) top scored and Lee Whalley's 43 took Shields to 219 against a very slow over-rate by Marsden.
Chasing 219, Marsden were never in a position to challenge despite a 72-run stand between David Stewart (73) and Gary Lancaster (37).
A hat-trick by Johnny Wightman almost turned the game for Shields but Marsden held out.
Whitburn raced to a nine-wicket win against Felling. John Dunn (4-13) was the main wicket-taker and with two apiece from Ashley Thorpe, Ian Elliott and Andy Turns, Felling were dismissed for 62. This proved academic for the Whitburn openers.
Boldon registered their first win at Seaham Harbour. Centuries from Grant Forster and Masood Mirza took Boldon to 230 before Seaham replied.
Despite 70 from David Leslie the Harbour were unable to play Gareth Smith. The left-arm pace bowler had 6-14 and the game ended with a hat-trick.
A hard-hitting century from Neil Mulvaney assisted by Thomas Raine (56 not out) gave Philadelphia an eight-wicket win at Durham City.
Mike Elliott (59) top-scored in Durham's 203. David Naunton (3-32) was Phili's main wicket-taker but City were unable to curb Mulvaney.
Eppleton saw their declaration at 200 overtaken by South Hetton. Neil McKinney (43) and Henk Holzenhausen (32) were the main contributors as John Pendlington and Ashok Patel each collected three wickets.
South Hetton's reply was led by professional Leon Olwage who completed his century on the way to his side's six-wicket win.
