The Readers Durham County League: The match of the day went in Evenwood's favour after an emphatic victory sent them to the top for the first time this season.

Willington had occupied the lofty position from day one but they were second best on Saturday as their rivals coasted to a nine wickets victory.

Their total of 162 appeared reasonable but it quickly evaporated as Chris Coatsworth (54 not out) and Indian Yjoty Yadav, with an unbeaten 70 formed an unbroken partnership for the second wicket.

Darren Brown and Clark both scored half-centuries for Willington but it was Evenwood's day and bowler Billy Teesdale took six wickets for a meagre 29 runs.

Esh Winning went one better than Evenwood and won with all their wickets intact. Hylton appeared to have made a defendable 180 for nine but David Lawlor and John Carmedy ended their hopes.

Lawlor finished with 60 not out while Carmedy hit a splendid unbeaten century. His 111 included four sixes and 14 boundaries.

Esh Winning are now second and Ushaw Moor moved into third position with a four wickets victory at Langley Park. The home side made just 90 in 33 overs but they made their opponents work hard for victory.

Six wickets went down, three of them to Ryan Moralee for 25 runs in 6.4 overs and Ushaw Moor were indebted to opener David Armstrong for his innings of 37.

Brandon lost an exciting game with Mainsforth by just four runs.

Etherley were bowled out for just 72 as Kimblesworth cruised to an eight-wicket win.

Hammad Tariq hit a maiden century (109) leading Crook Town to a match-winning 226 for five at home to Shildon. Shildon could only muster 92 as Shahbaz, Fawcett and Hussain all took three wickets.
