HARTLEPOOL United will step up the search for their new manager over the weekend.
Applications for the position had to be at Victoria Park by yesterday and Pool chairman Ken Hodfcroft will sift through them today and tomorrow.
As ever, Pool will keep their cards close to their chest as they look for a permanent replacement for Martin Scott.
Paul Stephenson took temporary command last season but was unable to stave off relegation.
He believes he has gained the necessary experience to be considered for the post but the job advertisement is asking for someone with greater knowledge of the game as Pool aim for an instant return to League One.
It reads: "The club are looking for an individual who will bring both passion and experience to the position and to ensure that the club bounce back next season!
"You must possess the relevant football coaching and management experience together with the appropriate qualifications.'' Among the names linked are Brian Little and Danny Wilson, who have both recently left their posts. Wilson could be installed as Yeovil boss next week.
Clyde boss Graham Roberts, the former Tottenham and England defender who led his side to a Scottish Cup win over Celtic last season, is also in the frame.
Pool were the first club to advertise a first-team manager's job on the League Managers' Association's job website, www. footballjobs. co. uk.
It lists the club's Director of Sport, Chris Turner, as the point of contact and he will play a major role in the appointment.
He recently announced that he was not interested in the post and would continue in his current position. Instead he will join Hodcroft, technical manager Ian McRae and chief executive Russ Green in making a quick decision.
Pool will again visit Holland as part of their pre-season preparations and the trip will give the new man the chance to get to know his new charges.
