Given the sharp nature of Catterick's course, it's no surprise that low drawn prominent racers fare best from five furlongs to a mile when the ground is good or faster.

Pace-making King Harson, who had a good blow-out at Thirsk on his recent reappearance, appeals as a likely sort in the "Be The Best Dressed Lady" Handicap over seven furlongs at the Richmondshire track this evening.

James Bethell's gelding ran well for a long way in a decent Thirsk handicap on his reappearance from an ordinary draw and, although tiring in the closing stages, is better than his finishing position suggests.

That form has already been franked with runner-up Malcheek winning back at the same course at the weekend and it's interesting to note that King Harson won second time up last year (and for today's rider).

He is ideally drawn to attack in stall three and he's certainly on a fair mark at present, being 7lb lower in the weights than when successful at Thirsk on that second outing of 2005.

He's taken to beat Border Music, who disappointed back on turf last time. Never Without Me, who shaped well after a break last time, will be suited by the likely strong pace and looks a leading player from stall seven in the "Joseph M Ladies Night" Handicap over five furlongs.

That third placing to Lady Algarhoud at Nottingham last week was an encouraging effort and this sharper course is unlikely to pose any problems.

She is fancied to get the better of Milton Bradley's pair Seven No Trumps and Snow Wolf. David Barron's team is in cracking form and his Sir Orpen is fancied to get off the mark on his reappearance in the Why Not Sponsor At Catterick Maiden Stakes over seven furlongs.

Although looking exposed, he showed more than enough over sprint distances last year to suggest he has solid claims in a race of this nature and his pedigree suggests this longer trip should be no problem.

Oldenway is a fair sort for claiming company and, with the weights in his favour, should go well for Richard Fahey in the Book Raceday Hospitality On 01748 810165 Handicap over a mile and a half.

At Kelso's afternoon fixture Nicky Henderson, who makes the long trip from Lambourn, looks capable of landing a double with Herakles in the Scott Coppola Intermediate Hurdle and with Saintsaire in the skybet.com Handicap Chase.

The former, a dual winner over hurdles this year, ran well in a 0-140 handicap at Sandown on quick ground last time and, although conceding weight all round, this looks a good deal less competitive.

Saintsaire wasn't at his best at Cheltenham last time but this is another event that won't take anywhere near as much winning and, given ground and trip look ideal, he could win his third race over regulation fences.

Jodante looks the one to be on under his penalty in the opening novices handicap hurdle over two miles and six, while Standin Obligation faces a straightforward task on his chase debut in the Persimmon Homes Novices Chase over three miles and one furlong.

Up Tempo (4.40) and Redeye Special (3.40) are two in-form types to concentrate on at Chepstow.

Laurel Dawn, who bolted up over Southwell's five-furlong course on his penultimate start, is fancied to repeat the feat back over the same course and distance in the 2.00.
