Roger Charlton hasn't had the best of starts to the season but he can get back on track by winning the Totesport 0800 221 221 Heritate Handicap over seven furlongs at Lingfield this afternoon with the progressive All Ivory, writes Richard Young.
The Khalid Abdulla-owned colt progressed nicely last year with three wins on good and faster ground but also showed he could handle cut when a solid second at Sandown in September.
He showed he retains all his ability with an eye-catching fifth placing (after meeting trouble) behind King's Caprice in a competitive Newmarket handicap, form that was boosted by a subsequent win by Fantaisiste last month.
He's sure to be all the better for that run, is well drawn in 12, won't mind if the ground dries out or if there is more rain and, given he has only had ten career starts, is almost certainly capable of further improvement.
The main dangers look to be Pat Eddery's Visionist, a winner at Kempton on Polytrack but who should prove to be equally effective back on turf, and this winter's dual all-weather winner Bonus, in the hands of Kieren Fallon.
