ADAM Johnson has completed a permanent transfer from Middlesbrough to Manchester City.

The Stockton-born winger has joined City for an undisclosed fee, that is understood to be around £7m.

As reported in today's Northern Echo, Manchester City officials tabled their latest offer late last night.

It was accepted this morning, and Johnson was given permission to leave Boro's Rockliffe Park training ground and travel to Manchester to undergo a medical.

He has signed a four-and-a-half year deal, and will wear the number 11 shirt for Roberto Mancini's side.

Boro wasted no time in attempting to spend some of the money, and Celtic striker Scott McDonald is understood to be at Rockliffe Park now agreeing the terms of his move from the Scottish side.
