DARLINGTON rally driver Guy Wilks made a strong start to the second leg of Rally Monte Carlo this morning.
He and co-driver Phil Pugh moved up from tenth overnight to eighth place in the Skoda UK Motorsport Fabia S2000 after stage seven.
Despite being hampered by running first on the road they set consistent top ten stages times.
Wilks said: "Today is a big compromise, every stage is different - typical Monte Carlo. We must keep moving forward."
This afternoon's action is a repeat of today's first three stages and will be screened live on Eurosport.
Meanwhile, Peugeot UK’s Kris Meeke, Wilks' rival, has accepted the blame for the crash that put him and co-driver Paul Nagle out of the rally earlier today. The Intercontinental Rally Challenge champion was in second place overall when he crashed one kilometre into the opening stage of leg two.
