KEITH REVELEY hopes today’s meeting at Huntingdon goes ahead to give Tazbar more valuable jumping experience.
The former smart staying hurdler has taken well to the bigger obstacles, winning at Musselburgh then finishing second to the exciting French import Long Run in the Feltham Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day.
He will try to regain winning ways when taking on three rivals in the Bet totepool At totesport.com Novices’ Chase, providing the track survives an inspection.
‘‘I like novice horses to get plenty of practice, so we will have another go,’’ said the Saltburn trainer.
‘‘The trip will be a bit short, the ground will be a bit soft, but he’s in good form and Huntingdon’s a flat, galloping track.
‘‘I just hope he comes back in one piece and runs a decent race.
‘‘He ran marvellous race at Kempton. The main thing is he’s come back in great form and has schooled well since.’’ Meanwhile, Andy Turnell is considering options for Blue Bajan after the provisional National Hunt bumper card at Kempton was scrapped.
The smart dual-purpose performer has not raced since finishing last behind Go Native in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle in November.
‘‘He seems to be in good form but I’m not too sure where I’m going to go with him yet,’’ said the Swindon trainer.
‘‘I’ll give him an entry in next week’s Champion Hurdle Trial at Haydock but it will probably be very soft there, so that’s only a possibility.
‘‘The totesport Trophy at Newbury next month would be his main aim before Cheltenham.
‘‘He’ll be entered in conditions races like the Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton.
‘‘There are several options and I might well go back to handicaps with him.’’
