FATHSTA can prove the star turn at Lingfield when he lines up for the Betdaq The Betting Exchange ‘‘Super 7’’ Handicap at Lingfield.
The former David Nichollstrained gelding was distinctly useful in his younger days, and has shown renewed appetite after switching from the delights of North Yorkshire to David Simcock’s yard in Newmarket.
That culminated last time out in a cosy success at Kempton.
It was actually deserved compensation for an unlucky effort at the same venue prior to that.
He has gone up 5lb to a mark of 88, which is not overly harsh and still leaves him well handicapped on his old form.
So Simcock has sought to more or less negate that with the booking of decent 3lb claimer Martin Lane.
With winning form in the book at this Surrey circuit, he again looks something to bet on.
Beauchamp Viceroy is the one to be with in the betdaq.
co.uk Conditions Stakes.
Gerard Butler’s charge cut out the pace as the apparent stable second string in the Listed Churchill Stakes here, but kept going to good effect when passed and stuck on for fourth.
That was a career-best and a significant improvement on what he had shown previously, although he did come into it on the back of a win in handicap company at Kempton, a run which must have done wonders for his confidence.
He does have something to find on official figures but he can step up again now he is going the right way.
Elusive Fame can gain just reward for recent consistency, and initiate a double for his trainer, with victory in Sunday’s Membership of Southwell Golf Club Handicap at the Nottinghamshire venue.
Mark Johnston’s four-yearold was a winner at the track in November.
He has since been knocking on the door, being placed in three of his subsequent five starts.
He dropped back to seven furlongs for the first time since last October earlier this month, looking a likely winner two furlongs from home before Follow The Flag swept through to steal the glory by just under a length.
Elusive Fame has paid for his admirable attitude with a rise up the weights, but Johnston’s team are in excellent heart at present and he will be primed for the task.
The Middleham yard should also welcome Love Delta back to the winner’s enclosure after the Play Golf Before Racing At Southwell Handicap.
This Seeking The Gold is bred to excel on the all-weather, having a real dirt pedigree with AP Indy the sire of his dam.
That opinion was borne out when he shrugged off a couple of disappointing efforts to score on his all-weather bow at Southwell on New Year’s Day.
Love Delta seemed to relish the Fibresand as he came home just under two lengths clear on what was also his handicap debut.
He scored with plenty in hand that day and although raised 5lb for that victory, he looks a real improver at this track.
