A COUPLE of recent Group winners have rescued Chris Wall’s campaign and Sundae can claim further success in the Auker Rhodes Blue Parrot Handicap at Doncaster.

As a three-year-old in 2007, Sundae had the makings of a really smart sprinter, winning four on the bounce and finishing up third in the Ayr Silver Cup from a mark far in excess of his current one.

But he had been disappointing from that point until his latest start at Yarmouth in July.

Wall evidently decided to change tactics and instead of being held up and walking out of the stalls, Sundae bounced away to enjoy an easy victory.

As long as he breaks well again, he remains ahead of the handicapper.

Ralph Beckett could use a boost after Look Here’s retirement and Layline is taken to do the business in the the Racing & Football Outlook Nursery.

Layline looks like he should be a cut above the rest with the form of his recent third at Epsom working out well.

After winning a maiden at Chepstow, the gelding ran in a very tight little conditions race on the Surrey downs and although he did not look especially happy on the track, he closed to nearly take second from Raine’s Cross.

The winner, Zeitoper, went on to secure a Group race in France.

Beckett is a capable placer of his horses in handicaps and back on a flat track and destined to keep improving, it is of no concern to see Layline running from high up in the weights.

More modest fare on offer up at Ayr, but noteworthy to see Godolphin sending runners to Scotland.

Their Emirates Champion, who was last seen finishing fifth in a Listed race in May, is much the most unexposed in the Karen Kennedy And Friends Celebration Handicap.

Sophie’s Beau was unlucky to be collared by Side Glance on the second of his two starts at Newmarket in mid-September and should have less to worry about in Wolverhampton’s The Black Country’s Only Racecourse Maiden Stakes.
