CHRIS Hughton will have talks with Mike Ashley about becoming the permanent manager of Newcastle United later this week.
Hughton, who takes the side to Scunthorpe tomorrow night, has been told by the club's owner that discussions are planned before Saturday's visit of Doncaster Rovers.
The Magpies are second in the Championship table and the development suggests that the club will soon be taken off the market.
Ashley indicated over the weekend he was ready to alter his thinking after failing to find a buyer for the club.
