ANDY Monkhouse relished his return to Swindon Town on Saturday, just like he normally does.
The Pool">Hartlepool United winger scored his third of the season and his second goal at his former club in three visits.
Monkhouse made just 11 appearances for Swindon before signing for Pools, then managed by Danny Wilson.
His 30th minute goal at the County Ground earned a 2-0 win against the side bossed by his former manager and means he has been part of a winning Pools side three times at Swindon in the last three seasons.
"The ball just came to me and I was just thinking, ‘hopefully I can get a good connection on it’. Thankfully it went in and I was delighted.
"I loved scoring that goal! I love every goal but it's extra special coming back to your old club.
"When I first came back a couple of years ago, I got a bit of stick so it's nice to give some back!’’ The goal helped end Swindon’s 11-game unbeaten run and Monkhouse added: "They are a good team. They didn't play very well on Saturday but I think full credit goes to us.
"We went there against a team who'd not been beaten since the first game of the season and we could have had a lot more goals.
"We worked on a lot of things during the week, getting the ball in behind their back four and it worked a treat in the first half and they couldn't cope with us.
"I had another chance, a couple of the other boys had chances.
"Second half they came back at us but I thought we were quite comfortable in the end.
"We thought they were going to get a rollicking at half-time, but in the end the back four coped really well and we're absolutely delighted.’’ Now all attention for Pools focuses on lifting their home form when Tranmere visit on Saturday.
"We've got a big game against Tranmere next week and it's about time we sorted our home form out,’’ he admitted.
"Tranmere are struggling and it's up to us to get the three points.
"They won on Saturday so they'll have a bit of confidence from that but the onus is on us at home to get three points.
"We know as a team that we let everyone down in the last two home games.
"But going to places like Swindon and putting on a performance like that, hopefully the lads can get some confidence and take it into the home form.
