MIDDLESBROUGH'S Sarah Borwell was unable to stem the flow of British losers as she lost in the opening round of the women's doubles at Wimbledon this afternoon.
Borwell, who was partnering British number one Anne Keothavong, lost 6-2, 6-3 to the Australian number three seeds Samantha Stosur and Rennae Stubbs.
Both Stosur and Stubbs are former Wimbledon doubles champions, so there was no disgrace in defeat for Borwell, who spent her formative years at Middlesbrough's Tennis World.
Meanwhile, on the show courts, Maria Sharapova has lost the opening three games of her second round match against Gisela Dulko, while male number four seed Novak Djokovic is a break down against German Simon Greul.
