WILLIAM Haggas’ Triple Aspect was worn down close home by an improving sort last time but can gain more than adequate compensation in the Agfa Healthcare Scurry Stakes at Sandown.
The Danetime colt is forced to give weight away to all his rivals here but that is the price he must pay for winning a Group Three at Chantilly last season.
The extra burden probably did not help his cause when beaten by Border Patrol on his reappearance, but the six-furlong trip that day did not play to his strengths.
Dropping back to the minimum trip, it will take massive improvement from one of his rivals to deny him Listed gold here.
Luca Cumani’s Forte Dei Marmi went into plenty of notebooks with the way he won at Goodwood last time and could follow up in Sandown’s toteplacepot Handicap.
He has been raised 8lb for winning by a short-head, which may seem harsh to some, but he had nowhere to go for most of the final three furlongs and showed a really smart turn of foot to still manage to win. He could be a good deal better than his new mark of 81.
Clive Cox can do little wrong at present and his Master Of Disguise looks primed to run a big race in the Reg Griffin Memorial Trophy at York.
Master Of Disguise made a really pleasing debut last May behind the useful Cerito but was then off the track until October, when Cox thought enough of him to run in a very valuable sales races at Newmarket.
He cut no ice in that but the experience obviously did him a power of good and having broken his maiden at Bath in no uncertain terms, Cox knew he had a very well handicapped youngster on his hands.
Making his seasonal debut at Sandown in April off a mark of 84, he was well supported and his backers never had a moment of worry as he ran out a two-and-a-quarterlength winner of a good handicap.
That was on good to firm but Cox thinks he is even better with some cut. Given the recent heavy rain in Yorkshire, that is a big plus.
Sir Michael Stoute’s Marching Time should be given one last chance in the Daniel Prenn Royal Yorkshire Stakes Handicap.
Stoute thought this son of Sadler’s Wells, who is related to Zafonic, good enough to run in the Racing Post Trophy as a juvenile, so his performances this year have been a bit of a let down.
He can be excused his first run of the season on the Knavesmire, where he met trouble in running, but sent off favourite at Epsom last week, it was disappointing to see him only finish fifth.
However, he is better off at the weights with the second, Tepmokea, so expect a much better performance.
Eric Alston’s Doctor Parkes should be all the better for his seasonal reappearance at Haydock in the George Wimpey Homes Summer Handicap at Leicester.
Ron Harris’ multiple winner Misaro looks dangerously well handicapped in Bath’s Best Odds Guaranteed At Betinternet.
com Handicap and showed a return to form was imminent last time.
Stoute should also be on the mark at Lingfield’s evening meeting with Kris Kin Line, a son of his 2003 Derby winner, in the Irish Night June 20th Median Auction Maiden Stakes.
John Wade’s Deuteronomy would not be winning out of turn in Hexham’s Clarke Mairs LLP Handicap Chase.
Palace Moon can take the next step up the ladder with victory in tomorrow’s Bathwick Tyres Cathedral Stakes at Salisbury.
This four-year-old is bred to excel over the sprint trips, being a half-brother to Group One winner Sakhee’s Secret, as well as multiple scorers King’s Caprice and Palace Affair.
Trainer Hughie Morrison obviously rates Palace Moon highly as he has given him a July Cup entry.
The Fantastic Light gelding did not make his racecourse bow until until last May and Morrison limited him to just two further starts, one of which yielded a maiden win.
He looked useful on his reappearance at Doncaster in March, breezing home by five lengths.
