THE Totesuper 7 Zetland Gold Cup Heritage Handicap is the highlight of Redcar’s six race card this afternoon.
Her Majesty The Queen is represented in the ten furlong race with Kingdom Of Fife, who is sure to be popular after running a great race in defeat at Chester last-time out.
It’s very interesting to note that champion jockey Ryan Moore has decided to travel to the North-East to partner the four year-old with plenty of other Flat meetings on throughout the Country.
Trained by Sir Michael Stoute in Newmarket, Kingdom Of Fife is fancied to go one better, and should be a popular winner amongst the locals.
The first race of the day is a five furlong handicap for two year-olds in which nearly half the field are making their racecourse debut.
Miami Gator might just be worth a glance in the market before the race as his trainer Karl Burke has really hit a purple patch in the last 10 days.
The Middleham trainer has his large string ready to fire on all cylinders as results over the weekend will back that up.
On Friday evening Burke was at Pontefract to watch Spinners End win the one mile handicap under Andrew Elliott, and further over the Pennines, on the same night at Haydock another two wins for the Spigot Lodge handler with Suzie Quw and High Severa both scoring under the stables apprentice Martin Lane who looks great value for his five pound claim.
The following day Burke and Lane travelled over to the Curragh to contest the Premier Handicap.
Philario who had ran so well when finishing second at York nine days earlier went one better for the inform team by coming home in front with a length to spare.
Lane was thrilled with the win and afterwards the Irishman said: “It’s nice to come back and ride a winner at the Curragh, I used to live close to the track win I was based with Ger Lyons. I’m really enjoying being in England and the boss has his horses in great form which really helps.”
