ITALIAN-BORN apprentice Andrea Atzeni wowed punters at Haydock with a 76-1 double on Clear Reef and Angel Rock.
The 5lb claimer struck for his countryman Marco Botti on Angel Rock (6-1) in the feature Play Premier 10 At footballpools.com Stakes (Handicap) to complete his brace.
Atzeni had to keep the idling Angel Rock up to his work to hold Rattan and Raptor by a head and three-quarters of a length in the one-mile contest.
"The ground is the key to him, he needs it soft and a strong pace. Everything went well or him today," said Botti.
"He is a nice horse but he needs things to go right for him. Last time at Newbury it was dead ground and he needed the race.
"He looks after himself which is why he didn’t quicken away and I think he had something left in the tank.
"Last year he ran a bit too free and was doing a bit too much but he’s more relaxed now. We got him right and he’s settled."
