LIVERPOOL goalkeeper Jose Reina is desperate for Barcelona to stop Manchester United from retaining the Champions League crown.
Reina has spent the season trying, unsuccessfully, to stop United securing a third consecutive Premier League title.
Now the thought of the Old Trafford men winning a fifth trophy this season is too much for the Spaniard.
United have won the Community Shield, the Carling Cup, the World Club title and the English Premier League.
Reina, a former Barcelona player, believes that is enough.
‘‘I don’t want to see our greatest rivals winning another title,’’ he said.
Reina has been on the winning side against United twice this season, and he added: ‘‘The truth is that it is not easy to beat Manchester United twice in a season.
‘‘The key was that we approached both games with nerve and played a passing game from man to man. That is the way to do most damage.
‘‘I believe Barca will play that way and I hope they win because they are a Spanish team and because I do not want our great rivals winning titles.’’ If Reina keeps a clean sheet in Liverpool’s final league game of the season at home to Spurs on Sunday, he could pip United keeper Edwin van der Sar to the Golden Gloves award.
