CRISTIANO Ronaldo has dropped the clearest hint yet that he intends to reject a summer move to Real Madrid.
Once again speculation has started to swirl around the Manchester United winger, with plenty of pundits claiming a deal has already been done that will see the 24-yearold move to the Bernabeu Stadium this summer.
For their part, United have always rejected such talk out of hand, with Sir Alex Ferguson famously declaring: ‘‘I wouldn’t sell them a virus’’ during his side’s successful Club World Cup quest in Japan last December.
Now Ronaldo has made a veiled statement which acknowledged the desires of Real presidential candidate Florentino Perez, who has vowed to build a superteam to rival Spain’s current number one outfit Barcelona.
However, as he looked ahead to United’s Champions League showdown with the Catalan giants next Wednesday, Ronaldo insisted he has thoughts only for his current club.
‘‘At the moment I am only thinking about the Champions League final independently of what will happen to me or my team-mates next season,’’ he said.
‘‘I am sure Perez would create an incredible team at Madrid but at the moment I am at United and I don’t care about what happens there.
‘‘I only care about what will happen next season at Manchester United.’’
