ENGLAND are closing in on a 2-0 series whitewash after claiming ten West Indian wickets on the fourth day of the second Test at Riverside.
Resuming their first innings on 94-3, the tourists were forced to follow on after they were dismissed for 310.
And as wickets continued to tumble in the final two hours play, they closed on 115-3, a deficit of 144 runs with one day remaining.
Provided the weather remains fine tomorrow, England will be confident of securing their second successive Test win.
Durham bowler Graham Onions claimed two of the three second-innings wickets to fall this evening, trapping Ramnaresh Sarwan (22) lbw before inducing the Chris Gayle edge that flew to Andrew Strauss at first slip.
With off-spinner Graeme Swann having removed opener Devon Smith, that left the West Indies on 89-3 and they added a further 26 runs before bad light stopped play.
Stuart Broad and James Anderson were the pick of England's bowlers in the first two sessions as they successfully enforced the follow on.
Broad claimed three wickets, while Anderson took two more to add to his overnight tally to secure the sixth five-wicket haul of his Test career.
