HEAVY rain continues to fall at Riverside, and the weather now looks certain to scupper any hope of play on the second day of the second Test between England and West Indies.
Not a single ball has been bowled after rain began to fall at Chester-le-Street at around 10am.
The players had begun their warm-up at that stage, but they were forced to retire to the pavilion and have not reappeared since.
If there is any play this evening, England's batsmen will resume on 302-2 as they attempt to build an imposing lead with three full days remaining.
