KEVIN Ryan is unsure how Arganil will handle the likely fast conditions as he bids for his fifth successive victory in the Duke Of York Blue Square Stakes at York today.
The four-year-old won four times in just six starts in a lucrative campaign last year and he has picked up where he left off by adding two more successes at Southwell and Lingfield respectively.
The chestnut beat off the smart Judd Street to win in Listed company last time but as each of his last four victories have come on the allweather, Ryan is in the dark as to how he will handle the good to firm ground on the Knavesmire.
‘‘He’s won his last four so you can’t ask a horse to do any more than that and he is going the right way,’’ said Ryan.
‘‘He’s coming off the allweather so I don’t know how he’ll handle the fast ground and it’s a Group Two race so it was bound to be competitive.
The horse is in good form so we will just see how he goes.’’
