NIGEL TWISTON-DAVIES can enhance his already impressive record at Perth by sending out Bermuda Pointe to further success at the Scottish venue.
Despite the fact Twiston- Davies’ base is nine hours away, the Naunton handler has made this charming track somewhat his own and he loves to send out a winner or two at their festival meeting.
Bermuda Pointe looks another such prospective success in the Bill And Bunny Cadogan Memorial Handicap Chase after seemingly appreciating the drop to two miles when romping home at Carlisle earlier in the month.
Although he made a hash of the last when winning last time, he never looked like being troubled and was good value for his 17 lengths.
He has to defy a step up the ratings here, but Bermuda Pointe looks a horse with something still to give.
Nicky Henderson’s Zemsky looks a progressive type heading into the EBF Future Champions ‘‘National Hunt’’ Novices’ Hurdle.
A comfortable victor over the well-regarded Neil Harvey last time, Zemsky has plied his trade well in pointto- point company and looks a runner of real potential.
His future almost certainly lies over fences, but this is a nice prize to pick up on the way.
The Nicky Richardstrained Money Trix is the pick in the stanjames.com Festival Chase.
Caragh Bridge can land the 3663 Novices’ Hurdle at Fontwell while Rockiteer can make it a hat-trick in Uttoxeter’s Jenkinsons Caterers Handicap Hurdle.
Tartan Gunna can atone for a shock defeat as an oddson favourite last time with victory at Beverley.
Mark Johnston’s charge had been on quite a roll on the all-weather over the winter, stepping up from two second places to strike gold by six lengths at Wolverhampton in January.
He subsequently followed up in similarly convincing style at Lingfield a few weeks later and was duly sent off at very cramped odds to make it a hat-trick at Wolverhampton.
However, making the running that day did not appear to suit Tartan Gunna and, conceding weight all round, he was only beaten threequarters of a length.
Johnston has given him a break since that February outing and, although he lines up off a 4lb higher mark here, the Anabaa gelding should be primed for the St George’s Day Stakes.
