PROMISING hurdler On Raglan Road will miss the whole of next season after damaging his tendons, but Crook trainer Howard Johnson is hoping stable-mate Tidal Bay will bounce back to form after treatment for a back injury.

On Raglan Road suffered a crashing fall in the Sefton Novice's Hurdle during Aintree's Grand National meeting, and is unlikely to race at all next season.

"He is out for at least 12 months," confirmed owner Graham Wylie. "He has a problem with his tendons.

"The plaster cast is still on and he has obviously damaged it quite badly. He will have a lot of care and attention.

"He will miss the whole of next season, whether he comes back for the season after that we are not sure. We will have to see, but Howard is a past master at getting horses ready once they have had a bad injury."

Tidal Bay also under-performed at Aintree, finishing a distant fifth behind Voy Por Ustedes in the Melling Chase.

The 2008 Arkle winner failed to live up to his promise throughout the season, but tests have revealed a back problem that may have contributed to some of his more disappointing runs.

"We've had him checked out and we think he has had a bit of a bad back, so we've had that looked into," said Wylie.

"There seems to have been something wrong with his back, I am not sure what it was, Howard just told me the other day, but it is fixed now so he is fine.

"Hopefully that was it and we will see how he goes next season. Everyone wants to see good horses back."
