SUNDERLAND: Kieran Richardson is set to return to Sunderland's starting line-up for the home game with Hull. The England international missed last weekend's defeat to Manchester United with a calf injury, but has returned to full training this week. Dean Whitehead is also available after missing last weekend's game with a calf problem of his own. Nyron Nosworthy is back in the squad having played 90 minutes in the reserves on Tuesday, but may have to make do with a place on the bench. George McCartney and David Healy remain sidelined through injury.
Suspensions: None
Injuries: McCartney (ankle), Healy (groin), Connolly (groin), Anderson (knee)
Last five league games: LLLLD
Leading league scorer: Cisse 9
Next game: vs West Brom (A) 25/04/09
HULL: Tigers boss Phil Brown is sweating on the fitness of striker Daniel Cousin and winger Bernard Mendy ahead of tomorrow's trip to the Stadium of Light. Cousin has missed Hull's last four games with a back injury, while Mendy was forced off at half-time in Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Middlesbrough and is considered the more likely of the duo to start. George Boateng is expected to replace the suspended Ian Ashbee at the heart of midfield, while Brown may opt to replace goalkeeper Matt Duke with Wales international Boaz Myhill.
Suspensions: Ashbee
Injuries: Cousin (back), Mendy (foot), Gardner (back), Bullard (knee)
Last five league games: LDLDW
Leading league scorer: Geovanni 7
Key Player: Daniel Cousin - If the former Rangers striker is not passed fit, Hull will surely struggle.
Last season: No corresponding fixture
League head to head: Sunderland 12, Hull 10, Draws 5
Referee: Mike Dean (The Wirral) G37 Y130 R10 Ave: 3.78
Last Sunderland game: vs Wigan (H) 14/03/09 L1-2 Y1 R0
Odds: H17/20; A7/2; D23/10
It's a fact: If Sunderland win today, Hull will suffer their 1,000th post-war league defeat.
Comment by Scott Wilson: Hull were awful in last weekend's defeat to Middlesbrough, so if Sunderland don't win this they really will be in trouble.
Prediction: 2-0
