THERE’S little change at the top of the table after the three front runners all won.

Leaders Newton Aycliffe conceded an early goal to Wolviston’s Glen Smith but John Close quickly levelled and in the second period the home side struck twice through Danny Mellenby and Andrew Hall.

New Marske are second, just two points off the top with a game in hand on Newton Aycliffe.

Michael Mackin headed them in front on 35 minutes at Coxhoe Athletic but it was not until the last 10 minutes that the Seasiders made sure of the points.

An own goal enabled them to double the lead and five minutes from time Nicholas Ward ended any hopes Coxhoe harboured of getting back into the game.

Teesside Athletic moved into third place with a comfortable victory over Ryhope CW.

Following a goal-less first half Daniel Drazdauskas headed them in front after 57 minutes before James Kesterton scored from the edge of the penalty area. The game was into the last minute as Andy Porritt headed goal number three.

The Teessiders are seven points adrift of the leaders but have played two games fewer than Aycliffe. They also boast the only unbeaten record with 17 wins and eight draws.

Easington Colliery slipped to fourth following a draw at Hartlepool who scored first through Carl Winspear. Scott Emmerson restored parity but the Colliers are now outsiders since they have played more games than the three leading teams.

Guisborough Town HC have a lot to do if they are to avoid the wooden spoon. They went ahead on 30 minutes through David John but captain Kenny Taylor came up trumps for Ashbrooke Belford House, scoring both his team’s goals.

Willington are five points ahead of Guisborough but they too suffered defeat after scoring first. Craig Jackson gave them a dream start but within three minutes Silksworth Community levelled courtesy of Martin Metcalfe.

In the second half Gary Tyzack clinched the winner for the Wearsiders who are now fifth from bottom.

Boldon CA were yet another team to take the lead only to lose. Shaun Heads fired them in front after an hour but Windscale romped home scoring four times in the last 25 minutes through Arthur Peers (2), James Reed and Dean Rodgers.
