KOLO Toure knows the atmosphere against Villarreal at El Madrigal tonight will be “unbelievable” – but believes Arsenal can come through safely if they remain focused on their quest for Champions League glory.

The Gunners head to Spain following an improved run of form which has seen them climb back up into the top four of the Barclays Premier League and secure an FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea at Wembley.

However, two of Arsenal’s three defeats in the last 27 matches have been away in Europe – against Porto in the final group game and to Roma in the last round, when they needed penalties to progress at the Stadio Olimpico.

Toure played at El Madrigal in 2006, when the Gunners successfully defended a 1-0 lead from the first leg to reach the Champions League final after Jens Lehmann produced a dramatic late penalty save.

The 28-year-old Ivory Coast international accepts it is likely to be another intimidating atmosphere at the 26,000-capacity ground, where the Yellow Submarine have not lost in 10 Champions League fixtures and held holders Manchester United to a goalless draw earlier this season.

“When we played them in 2006 they made us work hard,” Toure said. “I was happy to score a goal in that first match but the second game was really difficult and in the end we were lucky that Jens saved the penalty.

“This time it is going to be really tight again. We have to concentrate and not think it is going to be easy.

“The atmosphere there is unbelievable, you can feel the pressure from the fans because they are so close.

“However, we are used to that in the Premier League, which is going to help us.”

Captain Cesc Fabregas marked his return from a three-month injury lay-off by setting up both goals for fitagain Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor in the 2-0 win over Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Arsenal are hopeful leading scorer Robin van Persie, who suffered a groin problem on international duty with Holland, will be fit, along with Samir Nasri, the France winger having been laid low by a virus.

However, Russian midfielder Andrey Arshavin is ineligible having played for Zenit St Petersburg during the group stages.

Toure added: “At the moment our squad is really strong and we still have some players to come back.

“It is great to have Cesc playing again and he is going to help us to keep winning.”
