MICHAEL Carrick has some fresh availability concerns ahead of Wednesday's visit of Blackburn, with Ben Doak a minor doubt and up to three Middlesbrough players currently suffering with illness that is sweeping through the camp.
Seny Dieng missed Saturday's win at Oxford with illness and the bug is now spreading, with Carrick revealing other members of his squad have been under the weather in recent days.
They will be assessed in the next 48 hours, as will Doak, who took a heavy blow to the ankle when he was tackled by Elliott Moore and won a penalty in the first half at the Kassam Stadium.
Hayden Hackney also continues to have his ankle injury assessed but the Teessider won't be rushed, with Jonny Howson and Dan Barlaser likely to keep their place in the midfield against Rovers.
“At the moment, everyone who came through the game seems to be okay," said Carrick.
"Ben [Doak] took a big tackle on his ankle so we’ll have to wait and see how he is. H is doing all right. He’s pretty positive, actually. We’ve got a couple of days left until the game so we’ll see how he goes, but he’s doing all right.
“There’s a bit of an illness going through the squad at the moment. Seny’s had it and now two or three of the other players have had it over the last couple of days so we’ll assess things closer to the game. We’ll be ready, whatever is thrown at us. We’ll be ready."
Meanwhile, Aidan Morris is due back on Teesside this week. The midfielder stayed in the USA for initial treatment on the knee injury he suffered during the international break, but is now set to return to Rockliffe.
Carrick said: “Aidan is due back this week. It was going to be today but he’s back this week. There’s no setback or anything, but he’s still going to be a few weeks away.
"It hasn’t affected him and it’s been a good chance for him to have a deep breath, have some treatment but also have a rest from here and spend some time at home, which is nice for him. He’s fine and desperate to get fit again, as you would expect.”
