MICHAEL CARRICK claims his Middlesbrough attack is clicking back into gear after racking up seven goals in the club’s last two away matches.
Having drawn 3-3 at Norwich City towards the end of last month, Boro produced arguably their best attacking display of the season as they brushed aside QPR 4-1 at Loftus Road on Tuesday night.
Those games sandwiched a home defeat to Coventry City when Boro failed to score, but there were mitigating factors last weekend given that Hayden Hackney was sent off in the first half of the 3-0 defeat at the Riverside.
When his side were struggling to score in the early months of the season, Carrick insisted they were ‘doing the right things’, and the head coach is delighted to see his assessment finally being vindicated.
“It was good to watch (against QPR), said the Boro boss. “It was really good at times, and we want more of it. To see those moments of quality and periods of really good play, it probably reflects a lot of what we’ve been doing in the season, really. But we got the goals from it at important times.
“That’s seven goals away from home in the last couple of tough games that we’ve had. It’s good for us to get that feeling again of scoring goals, and the boys will hopefully feed off that.”

Tommy Conway scored Boro’s second goal at Loftus Road, making it three goals in his last three appearances, before Emmanuel Latte Lath came off the bench to make the game safe with his side’s third in the closing stages, and Carrick is delighted with the attacking resources he currently has at his disposal.
“Credit to the boys for keeping doing the right things and getting in the right positions,” he said. “Tommy and Riley (McGree) managed to do that, and got on the end of really good moves.
"Then to finish it off, I was really pleased with Manu. I thought he came on and made an impact, and looked sharp. It was a really nice way to finish the game.”
