NEWCASTLE CONTRIBUTE TO ARNE SLOT'S 'SPECIAL' FEELING

Arne Slot had three reasons to celebrate on Saturday night - and Newcastle played their part in delighting the Liverpool boss.

Slot's side came from behind to beat Brighton 2-1 at Anfield on Saturday, a win that tasted all the sweeter after Manchester City lost at Bournemouth and Newcastle's thoroughly deserved 1-0 success over the Gunners.

It leaves Arsenal eight points behind Liverpool in the table more than a quarter of the way through the season.

"It feels special because we faced Arsenal last week," said Slot on Saturday.

"They are a tough team with a clear vision for the game, and today we saw the same quality from City.

"Facing two top teams in quick succession, we had to come from behind in both matches to secure results, which made today particularly rewarding, not just because of the other outcomes.”

SUNDERLAND STRIKER STAKES CLAIM

Manchester United now know why Sunderland have such high hopes for Trey Ogunsuyi!

The striker has already had a taste of the Sunderland first team this season, having been named on the bench for the games against Plymouth and Middlesbrough in September.

And although Regis Le Bris' attacking options were boosted by the return of Eliezer Mayenda at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, Ogunsuyi will inevitably get another opportunity if he keeps putting in performances like the one against United for the Under-21s on Saturday.

The young striker, who doesn't turn 18 until December, scoring two in the first half and then turned provider for Timur Tuterov after the break, as Graeme Murty's side ran out 5-2 winners.

That's now six wins in a row in all competitions for Sunderland's youngsters.

And for Ogunsuyi, it's four goals in his last four Under-21s appearances. He's also scored three goals in his two outings for the Under-18s this season.

Earlier this season, Le Bris said of the promising teenager: "At the minute, he is still a young player who needs to discover more about our environment and the experience of being with professional players.

"He needs time to develop, for sure. But he has many qualities and he is a very interesting player for the future."

MILLWALL'S PLAN FOR JOSH COBURN

Josh Coburn could return to Millwall's squad for their Championship game against Burnley this afternoon.

The Middlesbrough loanee has been out of action since he suffered a calf injury in just his second appearance for the Lions in mid-September.

But he's back in contention now and could be involved at The Den this afternoon, though boss Neil Harris won't push for too much too soon. A place on the bench is the best Coburn can hope for, and the 21-year-old will get some match minutes under his belt for Millwall's Under-21s in the next week.

Harris said: “Josh Coburn’s trained for the last seven days now, so he’s heading back to fitness. There’ll be a thought process to involvement this weekend.

“We’re certainly not looking for him to start, but involvement for him from the bench, possibly. That might be a late call, depends on how he goes over the next 48 hours in training and if he’s not involved in the match day squad then he’ll to go to Brentford on Monday as well.”
