DARLINGTON have been handed a home tie against Buxton in the second round of the FA Trophy.

It's an opportunity for Quakers to exact revenge on their National League North rivals after a league defeat to John McGrath's side back in August.

Darlington were knocked out of the competition at the second round stage last season when they lost 2-0 at Scunthorpe.

The tie will be played on the weekend of Saturday, November 16, with Quakers first having to negotiate four league games as Steve Watson's side look to get back on track after a five-match winless run in all competitions.

Buxton are currently four places and three points better off than Darlington in the National League North standings. They've won their last two games, including a 7-1 thumping of bottom club Needham Market at the weekend.

Darlington looked set for three points against Warrington at the weekend after racing into a two-goal first half lead but were pegged back after the break.

Toby Lees said: "In the first half we were really good. The second half we started OK but the first goal changed it and as a collective we have to be a bit more savvy and not be so naïve.

"We fell into their hands a bit and left ourselves open and exposed at times. It's something we need to improve on going forward.

"There's a big run of games coming up now. We have Saturday then it's Tuesday, Saturday so hopefully we can pick up some results."

Elsewhere in the second round of the FA Trophy, Spennymoor will host South Shields in an all National League North North East derby.

Spennymoor are currently 11th in the table while Shields are 17th, a place and a point better off than Darlington.

Stockton Town's reward for booking their place in the second round with a win over Newton Aycliffe is a home tie against Scarborough.
