REGIS LE BRIS is hoping Anthony Patterson’s injury is not too serious – and is confident Wilson Isidor should also be okay despite hobbling off during Sunderland’s 2-0 win over Oxford United.
Patterson was forced to sit out today’s game at the Stadium of Light after suffering a knock during Wednesday night’s 2-1 win at Luton Town.
Simon Moore deputised for Patterson effectively this afternoon, keeping a clean sheet on his first league start for the Black Cats, but Le Bris does not expect Patterson to be facing a long-term lay-off.
The Sunderland boss said: “We don't know exactly (on the extent of Patterson’s injury) at the minute, but it shouldn't be too serious.
“We saw today that Simon did well. Even with few actions, you can feel if a player is in the game and at the level, and he was.
“He prepared very well for this since the start of the summer, so serious and clear in the way he prepares every day. He deserved this performance, and we were so confident in him today.”
Isidor scored Sunderland’s second goal, but the striker was unable to finish the game as he suffered a knock on his knee and was forced off after two separate bouts of treatment.
He was hobbling around on the pitch after the final whistle with an ice pack strapped to his knee, but Le Bris is not too concerned about his wellbeing.
He said: “With Wilson, it also seems not to be a big problem. He received a contact on his knee, I don't think this is a big problem.”
