SUNDERLAND'S "quite mad" summer signing Wilson Isidor has made a big and instant impression in the dressing room.

The French striker is quite the character, says Romaine Mundle, and is hugely popular with his teammates.

Isidor led the celebrations in front of the away end after Wednesday night's superb 2-1 victory at Luton Town, and Mundle - who scored the winning goal - said of the frontman: "He's a character, he is quite mad, we love that!

"We love that. Everyone loves it in the changing room. Everyone thrives off it and it's just an energy boost."

Luke O'Nien is another big personality in the Sunderland dressing room and when both sets of players clashed at full-time at Kenilworth Road, the club captain charged half the length of the field and jumped in to defend his teammates.

"Luke is crazy," says Mundle.

"I didn't see it. Obviously, it's a bit heated, but it's football. It happens. I was just trying to get the players away and just celebrate with the fans."

There was plenty of reason for Sunderland to celebrate after what was arguably their most impressive result of the season so far. The Black Cats had to dig deep against physical Luton and weathered a first half storm to get in at the break goalless.

Chris Rigg then put Sunderland ahead early in the second half but Elijah Adebayo equalised, only for Mundle to strike a brilliant winner.

And the winger loved the celebratory scenes at full-time in front of the away end.

He said: "I think their support doesn't go unnoticed. We absolutely love their support in every home and away game and I just feel like these wins and stuff makes their journey back better. If we can keep doing that then we know that their support will always be with us. So, it's just about getting those wins for them."
