Middlesbrough return to Championship action when they take on Sheffield United on Wednesday.

Here are all the details you need to know about the game…

WHERE IS THE GAME TAKING PLACE?

Having suffered a home defeat at the hands of Bristol City on Saturday, Middlesbrough make a rapid return to the Riverside to face Sheffield United.

Boro have an excellent recent record against Sheffield United, and are unbeaten in their last eight home matches against the Blades. Indeed, you have to go back to October 1997 to find the last time Sheffield United claimed a victory on Teesside.

The most recent game between the two sides at the Riverside came in August 2002, and ended in a 2-2 draw with Chuba Akpom scoring both of Boro’s goals.

WHAT TIME IS KICK-OFF?

Wednesday’s game kicks off at 8pm.

ARE TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE?

Yes – tickets for Wednesday’s game are available via the ticketing section of Middlesbrough’s official website.

Adult tickets for Wednesday’s game start at £28 for members and £29 for non-members. Non-member prices for Over-65s are £21 and Under-18s are £15.

IS THE GAME BEING TELEVISED OR STREAMED LIVE?

Yes, Wednesday’s game has been selected for live television coverage by Sky Sports and is being broadcast on the Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football channels.

As the game is being broadcast live, there will be no domestic streaming available.

Radio commentary for the match will be available on BBC Radio Tees, and The Northern Echo’s Scott Wilson will be at the Riverside providing a live blog, report, ratings, reaction and analysis on The Northern Echo website.

WHAT IS MIDDLESBROUGH’S LIKELY LINE-UP?

Jonny Howson is set to return to the Middlesbrough squad after recovering from injury, although the skipper could have to be content with a place on the bench as he is eased back into the fray.

Similarly, Dael Fry could be back in the squad after a lengthy injury lay-off of his own, although the defender is also likely to be amongst the substitutes.

Michael Carrick is likely to make changes in the wake of Saturday’s defeat to Bristol City, with Tommy Conway pushing hard for a return to the starting side after coming off the bench at the weekend.

Riley McGree was also a substitute against Bristol City, and could return to the starting line-up in place of either Micah Hamilton or Finn Azaz, while Matt Clarke will hope to replace George Edmundson at centre-half.

Middlesbrough (probable, 4-2-3-1): Dieng; Ayling, van den Berg, Clarke, Borges; Morris, Hackney; Doak, Conway, McGree; Latte Lath.

HOW ARE SHEFFIELD UNITED SHAPING UP?

Sheffield United’s trip to the Riverside means a return for former Boro boss Chris Wilder, who was dismissed just over two years ago, paving the way for Michael Carrick to take charge of the Teessiders.

The Blades are having an excellent season, and ended the weekend in fourth position in the table, despite having started the campaign with a two-point penalty. They were beaten last Friday night, though, going down 2-0 to Leeds United.

Midfielder Vinicius Souza picked up his fifth booking of the season at Elland Road, so will be suspended for the game against Middlesbrough.

Tom Davies remains unavailable through injury, so Sydie Peck could partner Oliver Arblaster in midfield. Wilder will have to choose between Kieffer Moore or Rhian Brewster up front.

Sheff Utd (probable, 4-2-3-1): Cooper; Gilchrist, Ahmedhodzic, Souttar, Burrows; Arblaster, Peck; Rak-Sakyi, O’Hare, Hamer; Moore.
