SUNDERLAND (4-3-3):

6 Patterson: Didn’t have a lot to do, but wasn’t getting close to Bedia’s effort which hit the post

7 Hume: Another solid defensive display from the full-back, who got forward when possible

8 MEPHAM: Sunderland’s standout defender as he produced a number of crucial challenges and blocks

7 O’Nien: As committed and forceful as ever – helped shut out the Hull attack

7 Cirkin: Made some important tackles to prevent Hull enjoying any joy in the wide postions

7 Rigg: Some of his first-half touches were superb – is developing an excellent relationship with Roberts

8 Neil: Back to his best at the heart of midfield – his challenge created the winning goal

6 Bellingham: A relatively quiet game by his standards, although he did a job for the team by sitting deep

6 Roberts: Saw a lot of the ball in the first half in particular, but the quality of his delivery was mixed

7 Isidor: Displayed superb composure to convert the only real opportunity that came his way

6 Mundle: Put in a lot of effort down the Sunderland left, although openings were hard to come by

Subs:

Connolly (for Isidor, 74)

Browne (for Roberts, 84)

(not used): Moore (gk), Johnson, Hjelde, Watson, Aouchiche, Aleksic, Rusyn.
