DARLINGTON assistant manager Terry Mitchell says the club's players are determined to put things right when they travel to King’s Lynn  in National League North this afternoon.

Quakers slipped disappointingly out of the FA Cup at home to Gainsborough last Saturday to end their seven-match unbeaten run, and now there’s a strong determination to bounce back in Norfolk.

“The lads are really determined to get back on the pitch,” said Mitchell. “Everybody hurt big style last week, we let the fans down in the biggest cup competition in the world.

“It’s happened, and now the best way to get it right is with our next performance. The lads are hungry for the game.

“We reviewed the Gainsborough game at training on Tuesday night, and trained really well. The lads were full of beans, and worked on King’s Lynn’s strengths and weaknesses to go there and win the game.”

Darlington won at King’s Lynn last January in Mitchell and manager Steve Watson’s first game in charge, and they could do with a similar outcome today for the first away win of the season.

“I’ve still got the last-minute goal by Mitch Curry pictured in my mind,” said Mitchell. “It was a really good day down there and the fans were unbelievable. To score in injury time and get three points was a perfect start.

“Hopefully, this time we’ll have a really good performance with the ball, we’re all right without it. We have to be much better with the ball and show our mettle.”

Quakers recall Will Flint to their midfield after he was cup-tied last week, but they still have several injury concerns. Striker Cedric Main and defender Elliot Forbes are both doubtful, while midfielder Tom Platt and defender Ben Hedley are out for a few weeks yet. Cameron Salkeld will also be missing after suffering a calf injury in training last week.

King's Lynn have signed former Darlington loanee Theo Williams from Fleetwood Town because top scorer Jonny Margetts is injured. Williams made seven appearances for Quakers on loan from Sheffield United without scoring.

The Linnets are still in the FA Cup after beating Worksop on penalties in their third qualifying round replay on Tuesday.

Because Quakers were knocked out of the FA Cup last Saturday, they will now have a free Saturday on October 12. That means they will have three successive away games as they are at Rushall Olympic on October 19 and Chorley on October 22 before they play their next home game against Warrington Town on October 26.
