EDDIE Howe expects to have Bruno Guimaraes available for Sunday's trip to Wolves but Joe Willock will again be unavailable, though the midfielder is making good progress in his recovery from injury.

Callum Wilson isn't as close to returning as Newcastle hoped would be the case, though the striker hasn't suffered any further injury setbacks.

Wilson hasn't played this season since suffering a back injury in the summer and the problem is taking longer than expected to settle down.

Howe said: "Callum hasn't had a setback but is a little bit behind where we wanted him to be. We envisaged he'd be training at the moment in preparation for the games ahead. He's not there yet, so he's probably a bit behind where we hoped he'd be.

"There's no injury or re-injury. It's just a case of he doesn't feel like he can push that final part at the moment. Hopefully in the coming weeks he will. It's not a long-term problem."

Guimaraes was replaced at half-time of Brazil's defeat to Paraguay during the international break but is expected to be available at Molineux. Willock is still recovering from the thigh injury he suffered in the Carabao Cup win at Nottingham Forest but is soon expected to be in contention to return.

Howe said: "We hope Bruno is OK. No physical ill-effects from that game. Joe Willock is improving. He's trained this week but not full training. Positive signs."

Sandro Tonali has returned unscathed from his first international get-away since the end of his ban, with the midfielder having played every minute of Italy's two games.

Howe said: "I was pleased to see him play firstly. Those games will have done him the world of good. He performed well and was part of a winning team. It's great for Sandro. He's in a good place but it's still early steps. We're delighted he's available."
