NEWCASTLE UNITED will not be selling Kieran Trippier – even if they receive a lucrative offer from one of the full-back’s Turkish suitors ahead of this Friday’s transfer deadline.

With the Turkish transfer window open for one more week, Trippier continues to be linked with a number of Super Lig clubs. Several Turkish media outlets reported that the 33-year-old had discussed terms with Eyupspor, while Fenerbahce and Beskitas have also been credited with a strong interest.

Trippier, who entered the final year of his current contract earlier this summer, has slipped down the pecking order on Tyneside in the opening weeks of the season, with Tino Livramento having started all three Premier League games ahead of him.

However, Eddie Howe continues to regard Trippier as a hugely-important member of his first-team group, and sporting director, Paul Mitchell, intends to back his head coach’s judgement and rebuff any offers that arrive for the right-back this week.

While Howe intends to continue supporting Livramento’s development, he envisages Trippier getting plenty of first-team opportunities this season and does not want to lose him without the chance of securing a replacement.

While Emil Krafth could deputise at right-back, the Swede has been needed at centre-half in the last few weeks and Trippier remains the main alternative to Livramento on the right of the back four.

Having retired from international football ahead of the current round of Nations League matches, Trippier has been working with Howe on the training ground at Darsley Park while Livramento has been with Lee Carsley’s England squad for their double-header against the Republic of Ireland and Finland. As a result, there is a good chance Trippier could be promoted to Newcastle’s starting side for Sunday’s game at Wolves.

Whatever happens in the next few days in terms of interest from Turkey, he will definitely be part of the squad at Molineux, with the Newcastle hierarchy determined to support Howe after a period in which suggestions of a growing off-field rift have dominated the news agenda on Tyneside.
