MIDDLESBROUGH remain absolutely adamant Emmanuel Latte Lath is going nowhere ahead of tonight's transfer deadline, amid a dramatic few hours in which the striker expressed his frustration at Ipswich's advances being knocked back.
Boro rejected an Ipswich offer for Latte Lath, with the club having been clear in their stance on and off the record all summer that last season's top scorer isn't for sale.
Latte Lath was expected to travel with the squad to Wales this afternoon ahead of tomorrow's trip to Cardiff City but, amid frustrations that Ipswich were knocked back, didn't feel he was in the right frame of mind to make the trip amid the speculation. He won't be involved tomorrow.
Boro are adamant, however, that he will still be a Boro player tomorrow, with the club having no intentions of allowing him to leave ahead of tonight's deadline.
Boro are also confident that once the dust settles Latte Lath will get his head down once more and look to build on his hugely impressive end to last season.
Boro officials have been in talks with Latte Lath all afternoon trying to settle and resolve the situation. They're respectful of Latte Lath's position - with a chance to play Premier League football and significantly increase his salary on the table - but have stressed to the striker all summer that they didn't plan to sell, especially at this late stage of the window when they wouldn't have chance to source a replacement.
As things stand, Ipswich aren't expected to return with another bid ahead of tonight's deadline, although obviously things can change quickly. But Boro have made their stance crystal clear to the Tractor Boys. Ipswich have now revived talks with Chelsea over a loan deal for Armando Broja.
There's understandable frustration inside the club at how the Latte Lath situation now threatens to overshadow what has been a hugely impressive summer transfer window, but the striker is understood have been hugely respectful in his discussions with Boro today.
And Boro's work isn't finished yet, with Ben Doak set to arrive from Liverpool. Boro are hugely excited to work with the talented 18-year-old, who was wanted by as many as seven Premier League and Championship clubs.
Doak is expected to be the last arrival, with a move for Ipswich Town defender George Edmundson no longer on the table.
