Newcastle's pursuit of England defender Marc Guehi is over as Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner praised his club for standing firm amid multiple bids for the player.
Glasner confirmed the deal was off in a press conference on Friday saying, "I can confirm Marc Guehi will stay.
"It was never really in doubt. Congrats to the club and the owner, they never gave in."
Guehi was subject to several bids from Newcastle, the most recent of which was reported to be a deal worth £70m representing what would have been a club record deal for Eddie Howe's side.
Crystal Palace owner Steve Parish said that any deal for the England international would need to represent 'superstar money', despite the fact the Palace captain has moved into the last two years of his contract at Selhurst Park.
"It was very important that Marc stays [at Palace]," Glasner said.
"Thank you to Marc, we always were very close and talking a lot. All the rumours didn't influence his performance, his mood, his professionality.
"He also told me he's not pushing to leave Crystal Palace."

Newcastle transfer deadline day updates LIVE
The Magpies had lined up other potential defensive targets earlier in the summer including Bayer Leverkusen's Edmond Tapsoba, but are now unlikely to pursue any other centre-halves before the window closes at 11pm tonight.
Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe spoke about the potential for incomings in the final hours of the window ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
"There is still work going on to try to see what we can do in the last few hours of the window," he said.
"So while there is time, there is hope."
