MIDDLESBROUGH are unlikely to make a late move for a centre-forward in the transfer window even if Josh Coburn leaves on Friday.
Coburn's future remains up in the air as things stand, with head coach Michael Carrick admitting at his press conference on Thursday that there's "plenty of interest" in the striker. Millwall and Preston are among those keen.
Millwall have held talks with Boro with Neil Harris having identified Coburn as a leading target, though the Lions are now set to sign Serbian striker Mihailo Ivanovic, 19, for a club record fee. It's not clear whether that will have any impact on their pursuit of Coburn.
But if Coburn does leave, Boro are understood to be satisfied with their forward options and are unlikely to try and source a replacement.
Leicester City striker Tom Cannon was linked on Thursday afternoon but the 21-year-old is not on Boro's radar.
Sunderland and Hull made bids for Cannon earlier this week but Sheffield United are thought to be favourites to sign the striker as things stand.
